Hindutva Groups Accused of Increasing Assaults on Muslim Youths in Uttar Pradesh

Aligarh: Recent incidents in Uttar Pradesh have highlighted a worrying trend of violence against Muslim youths by members of Hindutva groups, including a distressing episode in Aligarh where a young man was stripped and beaten.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the victim, identified only as Nazim, was allegedly interacting with a Hindu woman in Aligarh’s Quarsi area when he was assaulted by the group. A video that subsequently went viral shows Nazim, shirtless and surrounded, being interrogated aggressively by the mob.

In a separate incident in the Banndevi area of Aligarh district, a minor Muslim boy was attacked by a group after they inquired about his name. The boy, who was visiting the hospital to see his ill mother, recounted that he was taken to the hospital’s roof and beaten after his assailants confirmed his identity. The assault was also recorded and has been circulating online, showing the boy desperately crying for help.

These episodes are part of a larger pattern of hostility in the region; just last month, another Muslim man, Mohammad Fareed, was beaten to death in Aligarh’s Mammu Bhanja area. This marks the third such incident in the district over the last two months, raising serious concerns about the safety of minority communities in the area.
