IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar gird up his loins for accountability of the investigation wing

Lahore, May 07, 2023 (PPI-OT): Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar gird up his loins for the accountability of the Investigation Wing. In his video message, IGP Punjab requested the public to report any unprofessional behaviour of the police force by calling 1787 IGP Complaint Center.

Dr. Usman Anwar said that 30,000 pending FIRs of the past have been registered through 1787 Complaint Center, FIRs of all incidents of property crimes are now being registered without interruption, IG Punjab said that after the registration of FIRs, transparent investigation on merit and provision of justice to the victim is the prime responsibility of the police and he would not tolerate any negligence and omission in the investigation.

IG Punjab emphasized upon citizens “Feel free to report to me any unprofessional behaviour, bribery, delaying tactics by the investigation officers on the modern system of Complaint Center 1787,” IG Punjab said that complaints filed at 1787 would be promptly responded and responsible officers would be held answerable.

Dr. Usman Anwar said that the concerned RPOs, DPOs and other officers would also be held accountable to the citizens for lack of proper investigation and bad behaviour. Furthermore, he said that departmental and legal action would be taken against the investigation officers for not arresting criminals and proclaimed offenders, taking bribes as well as using delaying tactics and supporting the oppressor.

IG Punjab said that during the investigation, he will ensure the redressal of all kinds of injustice done to the citizens. Dr. Usman Anwar requested that all the citizens should register the facts and correct information of the incidents while lodging FIRs so that the investigation process could be completed at the earliest and justice could be provided to the victim.

On the instructions of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, cloth was bought for the preparation of new police force uniforms. According to the details, 29812 meters of cloth were purchased for the shirts of the traffic wardens across Punjab, 22359 meters of cloth were purchased for the production of the trousers of the traffic wardens.

Spokesman Punjab Police said that 26935 jackets have also been purchased for the use of force in winter. These jackets would be used by Punjab Police, Elite Force, CTD personnel. Spokesperson Punjab Police said that according to the schedule new uniforms and jackets would be provided to the wardens and other officials serving in different districts.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar gave Shabash to Constable Imtiaz Rasool of Sahiwal Police for rounding up and arresting dangerous dacoits. IG Punjab invited Driver Constable Imtiaz Rasool to the Central Police Office, hugged and kissed the forehead of Constable Driver Imtiaz Rasool for his brave pursuit of dangerous dacoits.

IG Punjab appreciated the performance of Imtiaz Rasool, encouraged him with cash award and certificate of appreciation. Dr. Usman Anwar said that the officers and officials who protect the life and property of the citizens and wipe out the crimes are our pride and measures would be continued to encourage such dutiful and brave persons.

Sahiwal police chased and arrested dangerous dacoits in premises of Farid Town police station on the evening of Eid-ul-Fitr. The motorcycle riding dacoits opened fire on the police and tried to escape in the dark. Driver Imtiaz Rasool rounded them up and arrested after a chase of 04 km.
