IGT’s Global Technology & Interoperability Center Receives Full Accreditation from the A2LA
LAS VEGAS, Mar. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ —
International Game Technology (NYSE: IGT), a global leader in creating the major slot games that players love and the casino network systems that improve the player experience, announced today that the Company’s Global Technology & Interoperability Center (GTIC) has achieved reaccreditation for ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 through the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).
The A2LA is a nonprofit, nongovernmental, public service, membership society that specializes in laboratory accreditation and training. The GTIC’s reaccreditation through A2LA enables the Center to certify IGT products according to the Gaming Standards Association (GSA) protocol standards. Products that meet the GSA’s Protocol Certification Program requirements are certified for consistency in Game to System (G2S), System to System (S2S), and Transport protocol implementation, which is critical to success in a system-linked environment.
“IGT is the first and only gaming equipment manufacturer to be accredited by A2LA for ISO 17025,” said Chris Satchell, IGT chief technology officer and executive vice president of research and development. “This recertification shows our ongoing commitment to a collaborative approach with other gaming manufacturers and strategic partners within our industry, while ensuring that meticulous testing is conducted in a true-to-life environment with full-scale systems.”
Consistently leading the industry in a state-of-the-art gaming test facility, the GTIC has worked with a number of gaming vendors, including but not limited to Bally Technologies, Konami, Aristocrat and WMS.
“Rigorous interoperability testing at the Center played a key role in ensuring that two of the newest large-scale casinos in Las Vegas opened smoothly with IGT’s sbX(TM) and Advantage(R) systems running on GSA protocols,” said Kara Matthew, IGT vice president of software quality engineering services. “This is the place that welcomes all gaming manufacturers to come in and test their products with GSA protocols.”
The GTIC is open to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), strategic partners and systems integrators to test the compatibility of GSA protocol-based solutions with IGT games and systems. The facility features five private testing rooms, badge-only access, and 24-hour surveillance to ensure comprehensive security and confidential testing.
The GTIC conducts testing in a real-world environment, complete with full-scale systems and the ability to emulate individual customer sites. Tested products are exposed to large-scale load performance and stress testing, usability testing, longevity testing, and end-to-end testing while running a variety of IGT and non-IGT products, as customer requirements demand.
