The independent candidates have taken lead in the local government by-elections held in twenty-one districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to unofficial results of the by-elections, a total of forty independent candidates have won the seats of different categories.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf stood second with fourteen seats while Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (F) stood on third position with six seats.
Similarly, Jamaat-e-Islami grabbed five seats, Awami National Party four, Pakistan Peoples’ party two while Tehreek e Labbaik won one seat in the by-polls.
