India has turned IHK into a police state: Firdous Shah
Srinagar, March 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement, Firdous Ahmad Shah, has said that the India has converted the occupied territory into a police state. Firdous Ahmad Shah along with a party delegation visited different hospitals of Srinagar and enquired about the health of people who were injured by Indian troops and police during peaceful protest demonstrations.
Firdous Ahmad Shah on the occasion strongly denouncing the police action on peaceful demonstrators deplored that even women and children were not spared. He also condemned the detention and house arrest of Hurriyet leaders and activists and demanded their immediate release. He said that arrests and harassment could not prevent the people of Kashmir from continuing their liberation struggle.
Firdous Ahmad Shah appealed to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon and other international human rights organizations, particularly Amnesty International and Asia Watch to impress upon India to fulfil its commitments made with the Kashmiris.
