Srinagar, March 21, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, despite being granted bail by a Delhi court, Kashmir intellectual Syed Abdur Rehman Gilani has not yet been released from Tihar Jail in India. Nusrat, daughter of SAR Gilani, in a media interview said that the session court granted bail to her father and they were informed that he would be released after legal formalities but he is still not being released.”Terming the delay in release as intentional, Nusrat said, “Our Delhi address has been verified. Now we are being told that Kashmir address too has to be verified before the release and that could take them another seven days. I feel something is wrong.

On Saturday, SAR Gilani was granted bail by a Delhi court on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and one surety of the same amount. Meanwhile, SAR Gilani’s brother, Bismillah in a statement also confirmed that police had not released his detained brother despite he had been given bail by the court. They said that police were delaying his release in the name of verification of the addresses provided in the bail bonds.
