Indian troops unleash reign of terror in IHK: JKLF
Srinagar, March 08, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has said that the Indian troops have unleashed a reign of terror in the territory by placing the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani under house arrest besides detention of other leaders. The JKLF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Indian police and other forces have started a series of arrests, raids, beating and injuring hundreds of people besides damaging of residential houses, shops, vehicles, across the territory.”
He said that the police raided residence of the JKLF Acting Chairman, Bashir Ahmad Butt, the other night and harassed his family members. The JKLF strongly condemns such acts of frustration by the authorities, he added.
The JKLF spokesman maintained that the police had arrested several Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi and Mir Sirajuddin. He demanded immediate release of illegally detained Kashmiris.
“The JKLF terms the barbaric acts, arrests, raids, curfew and restrictions as a clear frustration of the authorities who have unleashed the reign of terror through their police and other forces to conceal their crimes and failures,” the spokesman added.
He also condemned the attack on medical staff of Ghausia Hospital by the police, beatings and burnings at Batamaloo where a woman was critically injured.
