Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi organizes Indonesian Language Course for People of Karachi

Karachi: The Consulate General of Indonesia in Karachi opened the “Kursus Bahasa Indonesia” or the Indonesian language Course for the people of Karachi. The course was attended by the seventeen participants along with the guests from Pakistan-Indonesia Business Forum (PIBF), Pakistan-Indonesia Friendship Society (PIFS) and Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

Secretary of Pakistan-Indonesia Friendship Society (PIFS), Mr. Anwar Aziz Jakartawala representing the President of PIFS, Mr. Mahmudul Aziz and President of Pakistan Indonesia Business Forum, Mr. Abdul Majid Haji Mohammad also attended of the opening ceremony as chief guests and giving their remarks. The opening of the ceremony was started by remarks of the chief guests followed by the remarks of the Consul General.

In his remarks, Mr. Anwar Aziz Jakartawala expressed his appreciation and pleasure on seeing a good turnout of participants in the course and outlined the importance of the figure ‘seventeen’ of the number of participants, comparing it with the independence day of Indonesia, that is 17th August.

He emphasized that learning a language does not only show interest in the language, but also highlights the interest in the country, its culture and its people. He further stated that the friendly relations between the people of the two brotherly countries consists of respect, love and blind trust. He also asserted that by learning Bahasa Indonesia, one actually learns the language of seven countries.

Meanwhile Mr. Abdul Majid Haji Mohammad also expresses his appreciation and marked the day as a historical day and a milestone in the relationship between the two countries. He asserted that such initiatives will bring the combined population of the countries of 400 million, closer.

He congratulated the Consul General of Indonesia in Karachi and all its staffs who worked hard for the program. He also congratulated the seventeen participants and asserted that he hopes to see even bigger turn out next time and that the counterpart in Indonesia should also take such initiatives to bring the people to be closer together.

The Consul General of Indonesia, Mr. Rossalis R. Adenan in his remarks among others reiterated the long standing relations of the two brotherly countries and outlined the history of both countries as well as how both the countries stood by each other. He mentioned the historic Indonesian Independence war and 1965 Pakistani war when both the countries helped each other.

The Consul General stated that by organizing such event, he hopes to take the friendship of the two brotherly countries to a higher level and provide opportunity not only to businessmen but also friends and brothers.

To learn culture and language is beneficial for both the countries, and by learning Bahasa Indonesia, one can communicate not only with the 240 million Indonesians but also with more than 100 million people in other six countries, namely Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand (Southern part), the Philippines (Southern part) and East Timor. He believed that the program will provide benefit and advantages to the participants for further understanding not Indonesian language but also Indonesian culture and economy.

The Consul General, along with Mr. Anwar Aziz Jakartawala, Mr. Abdul Majid Haji Mohammad and Mr. Zia Ahmad Khan (Vice President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry) after the remarks proceeded to beat the ‘Gong’ declaring officially the opening of the program. At the end of the program, the Consul General along with all participants and other guests had group photo and hi tea.

The Indonesian language course received high appreciation and respect from the guests and attendances, and is expected to provide contribution to the efforts in enhancing relations as well as in improving mutual understanding between the people of the brotherly countries.

It will also be a positive contribution to the efforts to improve Indonesia’s positive image in Pakistan in general and in Karachi in particular, which in turn will further encourage and increase the number of Pakistani tourists to Indonesia, and Indonesian exports to Pakistan.
