Islamabad, Romina Khurshid Alam, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, announced the launch of a new TV channel focused on aiding farmers to adapt to climate change through education on sustainable practices and disaster management.
According to Press Information Department, Alam stated that the channel will be hosted by Pakistan Television (PTV) and will feature programs in six regional languages to ensure accessibility for vulnerable communities. The content, to be broadcast through local PTV stations at the provincial level, will focus on climate adaptation strategies, providing farmers with essential information on weather alerts, and preemptive measures against environmental threats.
Alam also highlighted collaborations with private channels to enhance the visibility of clean and green initiatives under the Climate Ministry. The new channel aims to not only inform but also empower, with special features on women’s income generation, gender empowerment, and environmental sustainability. This initiative comes in response to recent global climatic events, with the PM’s aide emphasizing the need for strengthened media teams to inform communities about impending climate-related disasters promptly.
Romina Khurshid Alam expressed optimism that this dedicated channel will play a crucial role in fostering a more climate-resilient and sustainable agricultural sector in Pakistan.
