Islamabad Police Arrest 290 Suspects in Six-Month Crackdown on Crime

Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Police, following directives from high-level officials, have apprehended 290 individuals, including 41 gang members, in a significant clampdown on criminal activities over the past six months. The efforts were part of a broader initiative to curb heinous crimes and recover stolen goods across the city.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza oversaw the execution of these special tasks assigned to zonal SPs and police teams. The operations led to the recovery of items worth Rs 23 million, including vehicles, electronics, and other valuables. The police also seized substantial amounts of drugs, liquor, and illegal weapons, including 25 pistols and two Kalashnikovs.

The police efforts extended to arresting individuals involved in drug peddling and illegal weapon possession, recovering over 10 kilograms of hashish and heroin, as well as more than a kilogram of the drug known as Ice. Additionally, police completed investigations on 203 cases, submitting the necessary legal documents to the courts.

DIG Raza reiterated the commitment of the Islamabad Police to dismantling networks of drug dealers and other criminal elements within the capital, emphasizing ongoing efforts to bring offenders to justice. He also encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities through various police helplines and a dedicated mobile app.
