Japanese ambassador calls on President
Islamabad: Japanese Ambassador in Pakistan Mr. Hiroshi Oe today called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Matters relating to Pak-Japan bilateral relations, mutual cooperation in various areas with particular focus on the promotion of trade and investment between the two countries were discussed during the meeting.
The President recalled his visit to Japan in February this year and said that the two countries needed to follow up the implementation of the decisions made by the leadership of the two countries during the visit, for further promoting Pak- Japan bilateral cooperation particularly in the fields of trade, investment, energy and infrastructure development. He thanked the Japanese government’s readiness for providing assistance to Pakistan in the field of education, human resource development, promotion of employment and health, including for the Pakistan Polio Initiative.
The President emphasized on holding government-business dialogue for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in both public and private sectors. He said that there exist great potential for robust trade and investment and urged for further jacking up the trade volume between the two countries.
Mr. Hiroshi Oe thanked the President for meeting and expressed the hope that the new avenues explored during the last visit of the President to Japan would take Pak- Japan bilateral cooperation to new heights with increased trade and investment to the mutual benefit. He also assured continued support of the Japanese government in combating terrorism, revival of the economy besides supporting Pakistan’s efforts in the development of the power sector, management and administration of water resources and infrastructure development.
