Religious scholars, representing various schools of thought and political leaders, have announced ‘Islamabad Declaration’ to foster both interfaith and intra-faith harmony.
The declaration was announced during a joint conference at a Church in Islamabad in response to recent Jaranwala tragedy.
Leaders from different backgrounds unequivocally condemned the appalling Jaranwala incident and called for swift trials and exemplary punishment for those responsible for this inhumane act.
The participants appreciated the federal and Punjab governments for providing compensation to affected families and allocation of funds for rehabilitation of affected religious sites of Christian community.
The religious and political leaders extended their gratitude to Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar and nominated Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa for their visit to the site of the incident.
