Junior Doctors in West Bengal Resume Total Strike Over Kolkata Rape-Murder Case

Kolkata: Junior doctors in West Bengal have resumed their “total cease work” protest, demanding the arrest of those responsible for the rape and murder of a junior female doctor at a Kolkata hospital. The strike comes amid growing frustration over the state government’s failure to address the case and fulfill promises regarding safety in medical establishments.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the decision to resume the protest follows a brief return to work on September 21, after 42 days of demonstrations. The doctors have expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s lack of action and wrote to the Chief Secretary on Monday, stating their concerns. “We do not see any positive approach from the state government to fulfill our demands for safety and security,” said Aniket Mahato, one of the protesting junior doctors.

The strike has intensified amid ongoing protests over the RG Kar Medical College rape-murder case, as doctors press the government to ensure their protection at healthcare facilities.
