Islamabad, December 15, 2012 (PPI-OT): Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, chaired Thirty-seventh meeting of BoG of FJA at FJA today and while welcoming the participants of the meeting the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan said “they are all learned people and their intellectual input would be tremendously beneficial for the growth and development of this Academy.

It is indeed my pleasure to have this opportunity to say a few words about this Academy in this thirty seventh BoG meeting of FJA, because it leads directly into why we are here today, and then, ask the Director General to read out the items of Agenda for this meeting.

We’re here today to deliberate on continuing education for all the stake holders of administration of justice system – a subject of great importance to all of us. Education is the most important tool for improving the quality of life of individuals. It is a sure path to success for individuals, communities and economies. And continuing quality judicial education will go a long a way in translating the dream of “Justice for All” a reality in this country Inshallah.

The Academy was founded in 1988 with a vision to be a premier continuing judicial training institution of the country, which is now on the path towards becoming a University called “Federal University of Law and Judicial Administration” that has to excel in creating, preserving and disseminating knowledge to all main stakeholders of administration of justice system in Pakistan and other knowledge – seekers in the country.

In our tradition of rigorous back to back training courses for Judicial Officers and other subjects as per the mandate of the Academy, we initiated twenty four training courses. In these courses, training was imparted to more than 520 trainees from all over Pakistan including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. It is a clear testimony that FJA excels in disseminating judicial knowledge.

To make the training more effective, we have undertaken various initiatives which include providing incentives to the trainee judges as “gift of Book” to the winners of Essay competition; implementing innovation related performance indicators; promoting innovative culture through talks; seminars and workshops; online training courses and other supports. Through the efforts of our dedicated faculty and staff members, FJA has made headway on diverse areas of contemporary and emerging importance in the domain of judicial education”.
