Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’ meeting on Public Toilets Project
Karachi, December 19, 2012 (PPI-OT): Public Toilets Project under mutual cooperation between KMC and CPLC was under way in the city and in its first phase repairing and fixing up of public toilets would be done. KMC Chief Officer Matanat Ali Khan said this during a meeting with CPLC representative Sardar M. Yaseen Malik.
He said that existing public toilets in different areas of the city would be made usable. He said that following the directive of Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan public toilets project was being carried out with the mutual cooperation between KMC and CPLC under which 800 public toilets along with availability of water, sewerage, space and electricity on various locations would be built in the city. Report of determined locations had been submitted to CPLC.
He said that survey of various locations in the city had been conducted for more than two months and those areas were given priority where a large number of people visit in which busy business centers were also included.
He said that NOC of this project from KW and SB had been obtained and the directives were issued to all petrol pumps of the city to let people use their toilets. He said public toilets project would also be included in next budget whereas in next phase public toilets would be built in various schools of the city.
Matanat Ali Khan said this facility was provided on government level in parks, buildings, picnic points and other places in big cities of the world. He said that one unit of public toilets would consist of four parts in which two for men and two for women would be allocated.
