Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Used New Technology in Circular Drain at Clifton
Karachi: Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Muhammad Hussain Syed said in order to drain rain water out of the whole area around Two Sword Roundabout at Clifton a new technology was used to lay down a circular drain. The road carpeting in this area will be completed in two day after which traffic flow would restore and no rain water would accumulate there.
He said development works of Shara-e-Iran and Hatim Ali Road will be completed in next two weeks while work on street lights was already completed. Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon on this occasion informed that the for the purpose of swift drainage of rain water the Two Sword Roundabout Drain had been linked with the Nehr-e-Khayam.
He said accumulation of four to six feet water was recorded during rains at this roundabout which had resulted in traffic jam and vehicles stuck in rain water. “The project had an estimated cost of Rs32millio”, he said and added that the construction and repairing of Shara-e-Iran and Hatim Ali Road will be completed by the end of March that would solve the gridlock problems in this area.
Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan was paying especial attention on the development and progress of the city and he had been personally visiting the sites of development works to inspect and review them.
He said the problems faced by KMC for carrying out development works were also been solved and maximum development projects would be completed in current financial year with better planning. He said Governor of Sindh had expressed satisfaction over the lying of circular drain under new technology around Clifton Two Sword Roundabout.
