Islamabad, February 22, 2023 (PPI-OT):Pakistan has called for addressing the situations where people are still forcibly denied their UN-pledged right to self-determination, as in Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine. Speaking at the Special Committee on ‘Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the Organization’, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the world body Aamir Khan said there is a need to uphold principles of justice and rule of law.
He said the right to self-determination, which is a fundamental pillar of the world order based on the Rule of Law, is the central piece of multilateral framework for peace and security. The Pakistani envoy said there are some who have been denied this right and have been obliged to struggle for it. He said this is the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
