KARACHI: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) has embraced the move to boost bilateral trade between Pakistan and Vietnam to $3 billion. The initiative is expected to enhance Pakistan’s industry and exports, according to KATI President Muhammad Ikram Rajput.
Rajput remarked that strengthening trade ties with Vietnam would unlock economic opportunities in sectors like textiles, food, chemicals, and engineering. He pointed to Vietnam’s economic growth as a model for Pakistan, suggesting that supportive government policies could help Pakistani industries expand globally.
He highlighted the potential for increasing current trade volumes, noting the importance of business linkages, technology exchange, and joint ventures for sustainable growth. Rajput called for government action on energy prices, raw material availability, and logistics to help local manufacturers compete internationally.
Rajput also emphasized the role of business-to-business cooperation, asserting that collaboration with Vietnam could open new markets for Pakistani industries. He urged for consistent policies to tap into Pakistan’s potential for export growth.
The KATI President expressed optimism that reaching the $3 billion trade goal would boost exports, create jobs, and strengthen foreign reserves. He concluded that Pakistan’s economic future hinges on industrial strength and collaboration between the government and private sector.
