Khokhar meets Sudanese envoy
Islamabad, June 14, 2012 (PPI-OT): The ambassador of Sudan Al Shafie Ahmed Mohamed called on the Advisor to Prime Minister on Human Rights, Mr. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar on June 14th at his office. While talking about the importance of human rights the advisor said that this is the basic concept that ensures tolerance, peace and the way to accept others.
He reinstated that by conceiving the vitality of human rights the present government introduced a number of legislative initiatives like National Commission for Human Rights Bill, the Women in Distress and Detention Fund Bill, National Commission for Women Bill, and Prevention of Anti Women Practices Bill (Private Member Bill). He said that all these steps have been taken with a vision to improve the human rights situation in Pakistan.
Additionally the advisor expressed that discrimination against Muslims must be discouraged at all international human rights forums because it is basic cause of intolerance , militancy and human rights violation.
The ambassador of Sudan Al Shafie Ahemd Mohamed said that democracy is the pillar of human rights concept and stressed that the Muslim community should develop the human rights concept in the light of Islamic principles.
He apprised the advisor of various measures of Sudanese government for improving human right situation in Sudan and sought support of Pakistan for further improving human right situation in Sudan. The advisor ensured full cooperation to the ambassador in this regard.
