Makkah: In response to a generous invitation from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, paid a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister, received them at the Royal Court in Al-Safa Palace in Makkah. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Makkah Summit for Joint Defense was held to review the distinguished relations between the three countries and to discuss a number of issues of common interest. The participants emphasized the deep-rooted historical ties, the bonds of brotherhood, and Islamic solidarity, alongside common strategic interests and close defense cooperation. The summit resulted in the signing of the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defense by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and His Excellency Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. This agreement underlines the commitment of the three countries to enhance their common security and to ensure peace and stability in the region and globally. The agreement aims to strengthen joint deterrence against any aggression and states that an armed attack on any of the three countries will be considered an attack on all. It also focuses on developing all aspects of defense cooperation among them.
