Matter of caretaker Punjab CM’s appointment to be sent to ECP

The matter relating to the appointment of Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister will be sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan for decision after the Parliamentary Committee, set up for appointment of Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister, failed to reach a consensus.

This was disclosed by member of the committee from PML(N), Malik Ahmad Khan while talking to newsmen after the meeting in Lahore on Friday.

Speaking at the occasion, the Committee member from PPP, Hassan Murtaza regretted that the Committee members failed to develop consensus today on the matter.

The members of today’s committee meeting included Main Aslam Iqbal, Basharat Raja, Makdhoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, Malik Ahmed Khan, Syed Hassan Murtaza and Malik Nadeem Kamran.

The Committee discussed the nominees’ names forwarded by the Punjab Chief Minister Mr Pervaiz Elahi and former Leader of Opposition Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif.

Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera and Naveed Akram Cheema were the nominees from Punjab Chief Minister while Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Ahad Khan Cheema from former Opposition Leader.
