MC Kash releases album in memory of Maqbool Butt in IHK

Srinagar, February 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Roshan Illahi Aka MC Kash, released a six-song Extended Play (EP) of his debut album “Rebel RepubliK” on Friday as a tribute to the prominent Kashmiri leader, Mohammad Maqbool Butt. The EP, which opens with the song ‘Birthright’ followed by ‘Bring Him Home, Freedom Fighter, Heart of a Rebel, My People and Liberation”, was scheduled for release on February 11 but due to the hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guru on February 9, and the curfew that followed it, the EP release got delayed, Illahi said.

Roshan Illahi, a 23-year-old management student from Srinagar, who shot to fame during the peak of 2010 summer agitation in Kashmir with the song ‘I protest (remembrance)’, had earlier released his debut album ‘Rebel Republik’ last year.

The ‘Liberation’ is also Illahi’s first album EP and will be released through his official website,

“These are very testing times that Kashmir is passing through, and this the time we have to remember our martyrs, maintain hope and strengthen our collective resolve towards the dream of Kashmir’s liberation,” Illahi said.

He has also produced scores of hit singles like ‘Beneath the Sky’, ‘Valley of Saints’, ‘Take it in Blood’, ‘The Bridge of no Return’ and other songs.
