Meeting of Bangladesh Media Delegation with Additional Secretary for South Asia and Pacific Region
Islamabad, June 12, 2012 (PPI-OT): A 10-member delegation of Bangladeshi journalists and academicians was received by Mr. Sajjad Kamran, Additional Secretary (Asia and Pacific) at the Foreign Ministry today.
The interaction was marked by mutual warmth and sentiments of friendship. The discussions covered a range of issues, including bilateral cooperation as well as cooperation at regional and multilateral forums.
The Additional Secretary expressed satisfaction at the current state of bilateral relations and highlighted their significance stating that Pakistan greatly values its ties with Bangladesh which are embedded in common history, faith and culture. He emphasised the need to continue efforts to deepen people-to-people contacts and further the already existing bonds of fraternity and friendship.
He also expressed satisfaction over the increase in bilateral trade with Bangladesh which crossed One Billion Dollar mark in 2011 and underlined Pakistan’s keenness to deepen the trade ties.
The Additional Secretary also reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen relations with all countries in the neighbourhood to address issues of peace, security and poverty observing that these could not be tackled by any single country.
The delegates, who are in Islamabad as part of their weeklong visit to Pakistan, expressed their satisfaction over their interaction with government and private institutions and people of Pakistan.
