Message of Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Prime Minister of Pakistan on International Lymphoma Day

Be First!

Islamabad: The observance of International Lymphoma Day around the world on September 15 draws our attention to the dangers that the disease poses to human health, and draws our attention to the urgent need of raising public awareness.

Lymphoma is a deadly disease, which is spreading fast around the world especially among the young people. It is a matter of great concern that Lymphoma is affecting people between ages of 15 and 35.

This has created a worrying situation for Pakistan as its significant population comprises of this age group. Statistics show that the rate of Lymphoma has increased in Pakistan and it is on the rise. This is a matter of serious for all of us as a nation.

Though the Government of Pakistan has taken various steps to improve the health of Pakistani people, there is, nonetheless, a great need to spread awareness about lymphoma so that its early diagnosis and treatment can be made possible.

With timely diagnosis, the disease can be cured in most cases. We all need to work collaboratively to save our younger generation from this deadly disease.

We appreciate the efforts of those organizations that have taken upon themselves the responsibility to create awareness in the people. I would like to ask media and other health care organizations to come forward and take part in the awareness campaign to supplement the government’s efforts to contain the deadly disease.
