Message of Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Prime Minister of Pakistan on occasion of Youm-e-Dua
Islamabad: ‘Youm-e-Du’ is being observed today across the country on the appeal of federal cabinet. The entire nation will raise their hands in prayer for restoration of peace in Karachi in particular and the motherland in general. The religious scholars will also highlight aspects for improvement of situation in Karachi in their prayers and speeches on the occasion of Juma-tul-Wida.
Historically speaking, Pakistan came into being in the sacred moments of Laila-tul-Qadr on the Juma-tul-Wida on the 27th of Ramadan. The people of Pakistan rightly regard the creation of Pakistan as a Divine Gift. Our dear homeland, established in the sacred name of Islam, is the centre of hopes and expectations of the Muslim world. The people of Pakistan also have deep mental and intellectual association with Islam and the Islamic world.
The recent incidents of Karachi are a matter of immense concern not only for our own people but also for the entire Islamic world. The spate of terrorism, target killing and law-breaking is adversely impacting upon the national growth. It is the firm conviction of our government that we will do everything possible to safeguard national interests, the life, dignity, and property of the people.
The provincial government of Sindh is taking measures on emergent basis to restore law and order in the metropolis and the federal government fully endorses its steps. It is with this thought in mind that the federal government decided to observe the 26th of August as “Youm-e-Dua” at the national level on the sacred occasion of Juma-tul-Wida and make special prayers for peace in Karachi.
I request the people of Pakistan in general and the religious scholars in particular that they make special Dua for improvement of situation in Karachi and the country’s progress on the occasion of “Youm-e-Dua”. I am sure that the government will be able to restore peace in Karachi with the cooperation of the people of Pakistan.
