Minister meets Prime Minister

Islamabad, June 29, 2012 (PPI-OT): Sheikh Waqqas Akram, Federal Minister for Professional and Technical Training met with Prime Minister and expressed his concerns over the release of funds of Higher Education Commission. After the detailed discussion with Federal Minister, Prime Minister ordered Ministry of Finance to immediately release 4.6 billion rupees to HEC.

In yesterday briefing Federal Minister took the notice of the issue and approached the Prime Minister. Federal Minister informed the Prime Minister that the salaries of Professors and lower staff had been stopped due to stalled funds of HEC.

More so it was briefed to Prime Minister that due to non-issuing of funds 10,000 overseas PhD scholars and graduates would be affected and all other overseas projects would be jeopardized. It was also informed that 74 public sectors universities were likely to be affected due to stalled grant of HEC.

Prime Minister pleased to order the Ministry of Finance for the immediate release of funds to HEC. It is told to Ministry of Professional and Technical Training that after the direction of Prime Minister, Ministry of Finance has released 2.00 billion rupees.
