Ministry of Women Development committed to eliminate all discriminations against women
Islamabad: In line with the policy of present Government, the Ministry of Women Development is committed to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and combat violence against women through an informative action which includes; establishment of 26 Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Centres for Women throughout Pakistan and AJK at a total cost of Rs. 312.654 million including one at Rawalpindi approved in May 2004. District Government Rawalpindi provided a piece of land in the premises of Social Welfare Complex, Rawalpindi and also constructed building with the financial support of MoWD. The Centre is now functional and providing rehabilitation facilities to women in distress successfully.
Ms. Samina Khalid Ghurki, Federal Minister for Women Development is going to inaugurate the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Centre for Women on May 24, 2011 at Social Welfare Complex, Shamsabad, Rawalpindi to assist women who are victims of violence with the hope that after devolution of this function to the provinces, the Provincial Governments will continue rehabilitation of women in distress.
