National Assembly Speaker directs strict security measures around Parliament House
Islamabad: Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly chaired a meeting in meeting in Parliament House, this afternoon to review the security arrangements in and around the Parliament House.
After detailed briefing by the Minister for Interior and Inspector General ICT Police, Madam Speaker directed the ICT Police to beef up the security around the Parliament House besides strict implementation of SOP to avoid any untoward incident in wake of the prevalent law and order situation. She also instructed for not allowing any visitor to enter in the Parliament House without proper security check/body search and entry pass.
It was decided that the entry passes for the visitors will be issued on daily basis by the National Assembly Secretariat and that too only on the recommendation of the Honourable Parliamentarians after necessary verification. ICT Police was also directed that the vehicles entering in Parliament House should be and checked thoroughly without discrimination.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi and Deputy Chairman Senate Jan Muhammad Jamali, Mr. Rehman Malik, Minister for Interior, Secretary M/o Interior, Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner ICT, Inspector General ICT Police and other officials of the concerned departments.
