Next city master plan should be more comprehensive: Administrator
Karachi, January 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that implementation of Master Plan 2020 along with work on upcoming planning should continue and after 2020 new plan should be made comprehensive so that citizens could be facilitated with an effective and valuable master plan. GIS system in the city was an excellent effort on which work should be carried out speedily.
He issued these directives while addressing a meeting with officers of Master Plan Department. Administrator Karachi said that utility services and development activities were according to master plan in all big cities of the world and all basic information about city was available on the basis of which strategy for future was prepared.
Karachi was included in seven big cities of the world which had great geographical and economic importance in the region hence it was necessary to build the infrastructure of Karachi on modern lines and to carryout development works and future planning according to a constructive and comprehensive master plan which would provide city with real growth.
He directed to include the installation information of city departments including KWSB in GIS system which would be beneficial. He said that including survey of houses on union and departmental level and including lines of water and sewerage board in digital map would provide facilities in repairing and changing of infrastructure since computerizing whole city infrastructure would ensure the availability of all types of information which could be used for various types of plans therefore work in this regard should be carried out speedily.
Administrator Karachi said that Master Plan Department should begin work for the preparation of master plan after 2020 because completion of 2020 master plan was not the end but the department should continue planning work on preferential basis.
