No peace in region without Kashmir solution: JKPL
Srinagar, January 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has said that Kashmir is an internationally disputed territory and should be resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspirations of its people.
Mukhtar Ahmad Waza addressing a meeting of his party activists in Srinagar, said that permanent peace in South Asia is not possible without resolving the Kashmir dispute.
After returning from Pakistan visit, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza on Thursday apprised the party activists and workers about his recent Pakistan visit. He said that the United Nations could play a constructive role in facilitating meaningful dialogue between Pakistan, India and the genuine leadership of Kashmiris for final settlement of the dispute.
“People of Jammu Kashmir are basic party in the Kashmir dispute and any settlement of the dispute on Jammu Kashmir should satisfy the aspirations of its people,” Waza said.
He appealed to the United Nations to impress upon India to revoke the draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the territory, withdraw its troops and release all illegally detained Kaashmiri Hurriyet leaders and activists.
The party leaders and activists including Muhammad Maqbool Sofi, Parvez Ahmad Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi, Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Haji Abdul Quddoos participated in the meeting.
