North Korea test fired a short-range ballistic missile into the sea on the first day of the new year this morning.
South Korean military reported that the projectile was launched from the Yongseong area of Pyongyang which landed in the Sea of Japan.
Earlier, North Korea fired three short-range ballistic missiles yesterday.
