OIC Observer Mission hails Kazakhstan’s presidential polls


Director of the European Political Affairs and International Organizations Ambassador Mahmoud Al Raisi, who headed the Mission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to monitor the presidential polls in Kazakhstan, praised the positive and democratic atmosphere, in which the elections were held.

The official results of Sunday’s nationwide presidential elections were announced on Monday, with the ruling Nur Otan party candidate, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, winning 70 percent of the vote.

In a press briefing in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan on Monday, the head of the OIC observer mission said the mission carried out its work easily and comfortably. He pointed out that work of the mission covered six main polling stations, where it monitored the calmness and provision of all the necessary means to facilitate the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
