Pakistan Attracted Over 1 Million Int’l Tourists in 2025: Envoy

Pakistan: Pakistan's Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi has said Pakistan attracted over one million international tourists in the calendar year 2025, reflecting an increase of eight hundred and twenty percent as compared to previous years.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Ambassador said the tourism sector has shown progress in recent years. He said under government initiatives, including the Green Pakistan program, steps have been taken to improve planning and attract investment in the tourism sector.

Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi said Pakistan is working to attract up to fifty thousand tourists from Russia each year. He said the step will help generate one billion dollars in revenue annually.

Replying to a question, the Ambassador said the changing conditions in the global markets and unrest in the Middle East are creating space for new destinations, with Pakistan aiming to secure a share and bridge the gap in the tourism sector.

He said the countries in Eastern Europe and Russia, are now looking for alternative destinations and Pakistan is being considered as a new option in this connection.

Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi also highlighted Pakistan's strategic location, which connects Asia, Europe, and Africa, as an opportunity to develop as a transit hub. He stressed the need to improve aviation services and regional connectivity with Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and China.

He said the Russian tourism market offers strong potential. Russian travelers are showing interest in destinations that are accessible, secure, and cost-effective. He further said that Pakistan, with its diverse landscape and ongoing improvements in tourism facilities, can meet this demand.
