Pakistan Calls for Robust Multilateral Strategy Against Terrorism

New york: At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for evolving a robust multilateral strategy to make the world free from terrorism. This was stated by Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, while addressing the 96th Plenary meeting of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad emphasized that Pakistan has remained at the forefront of global counter-terrorism efforts, having played an instrumental role in its success over the years, particularly against Al Qaida and other groups. He noted that terrorism transcends national boundaries and manifests itself in an increasingly interconnected yet decentralized organizational manner globally. Ambassador Ahmad highlighted the necessity of a multifaceted strategy that reflects ground realities across diverse regions, nations, communities, societies, and cultures. He underscored the importance of ensuring that intergovernmental bodies lik e the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) are inclusive, fair, transparent, and depoliticized. He further stated that no country should be allowed to weaponize such forums for domestic or political agendas.
