Pakistan, China, Afghanistan Forge Agreement to Combat Terrorism

Islamabad: Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan have reached a significant agreement aimed at preventing the use of their territories for terrorist activities. Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar announced that a clear consensus has been established with these neighboring countries, ensuring that no terrorist organization, including TTP and BLA, will be allowed to use any country’s soil against another.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a news conference held in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar highlighted the outcomes of his recent visit to China, which he described as highly successful in terms of diplomatic, strategic, and economic progress. He emphasized the detailed and promising discussions on CPEC 2.0 and the groundwork laid for expanded cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Deputy Prime Minister also confirmed China’s intent to finance the Pakistan-Afghanistan-Uzbekistan railway project, calling it a transformative step for regional connectivity. He stated that draft frameworks have been sent to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, with China responding positively to financing and coordination efforts. This project, along with the Peshawar-Kabul Highway and ML-1 upgrades, is expected to significantly boost Pakistan’s connectivity to Central Asian Republics and enhance the commercial potential of its ports.

Additionally, the visit resulted in substantive decisions with China and Afghanistan on refugee matters and counterterrorism. Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s firm resolve to combat terrorism, reaffirming support for the One-China policy, including Tibet. He also shared that the Chinese Minister for International Development and a senior Communist Party leader praised Pakistan’s global outreach during their meeting with his delegation.
