Pakistan Condemns Demolition Attempts on Historic Indian Mosque

Islamabad:Pakistan has strongly condemned the attempts to demolish sections of the historic Shahi Masjid in Madhya Pradesh, India.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan, expressed this condemnation during a weekly media briefing. He criticized the use of force against Muslim community members who were peacefully protesting the attempted demolition.

Ambassador Khan highlighted a concerning trend of actions impacting Muslim places of worship in India. He stated that administrative and judicial practices are being used to mask a pattern of persecution against minorities, driven by Islamophobia and Hindutva ideology.

Pakistan is urging the international community to recognize and address the ongoing targeting of Muslims and their religious sites in India. Ambassador Khan emphasized that Indian authorities should protect the religious freedoms of minorities and ensure the safety of their cultural heritage.

On another matter, the spokesperson rejected India's attempts to mischaracterize the Court of Arbitration's ruling, which confirmed the Indus Waters Treaty as binding. He insisted that India must comply with its treaty obligations concerning hydroelectric projects.

In response to additional questions, Ambassador Khan reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to international sanctions and laws, emphasizing its dedication to multilateralism. He also highlighted Pakistan's strategic partnership with the United States and its role as a mediator between Iran and the U.S., encouraging dialogue and diplomacy.
