Pakistan elected to Executive Committee of Commonwealth Secretariat

Islamabad, May 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistan was elected today to the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Secretariat for the term 2013-2015 during the Board of Governors’ annual meeting, says a press release received from London here today.

The Executive Committee is an important body of the Commonwealth Secretariat and is comprised of a select group of member countries representing various regions of the Commonwealth. It is mandated to oversee all matters related to finance, personnel, and administration; make policy recommendations; and review and finalise plans and budgets for presentation to the Board of Governors.

The Commonwealth Secretariat is one of the three intergovernmental organisations of the Commonwealth. It promotes democracy and socio-economic development across the Commonwealth through technical assistance, advice and policy development in accordance with the plans agreed to by the Commonwealth Heads of Government in their biennial meetings.
