Pakistan greatly values its political, economic and cultural ties with Iran – Chairman Senate
Islamabad: Pakistan greatly values its political, economic and cultural ties with Islamic Republic of Iran. These brotherly relations are deeply rooted in our multiple cultural and historical commonalities and we are strongly committed to further strengthen these relations.
This was stated by the Chairman Senate, Mr. Farooq H. Naek while talking to Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi, Foreign Minister of Iran, who called on him at the Parliament House here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said Pakistan is strongly committed to work closely with Tehran to enhance cooperation between our two countries in diverse fields; we need to take concrete measures to promote cooperation especially in economic fields. He said, there is a great potential and tremendous opportunities of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries: we understand that trade and investment could be enhanced manifolds between the two countries, he added.
The Chairman further said Pakistan attaches great importance to the ongoing dialogue on enhancing cooperation in the energy sectors and infrastructure. While discussing the Pak-Iran Joint Commission, the Chairman said, I am very optimistic that the 18th Session of Pakistan and Iran Joint Commission will be very productive.
He said strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two neighbouring countries must be manifested through closer parliamentary contacts. He underlined the need of frequent parliamentary exchanges between Pakistan and Iran for their mutual advantage.
While expressing the happiness over Parliamentary exchanges between the two countries he said high level exchanges of parliamentary delegation will help promote better understanding of each other systems and cultures.
Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi, Foreign Minister of Iran, while reciprocating the gesture, said he is pleased to visit brotherly country of Pakistan, particularly the Senate of Pakistan. He said Iran is the reliable friend and partner of Pakistan. He also observed that close and cordial relations between Pakistan and Iran would be strengthened further with the passage of time.
