New Delhi, April 29, 2014 (PPI-OT): ‘Globalisation sans regional integration will never realise its full potential. Regional stability is in our mutual interest and peace through a peaceful process”, this was stated by High Commissioner for Pakistan to India, Mr. Abdul Basit, while talking as a key note speaker on ‘Pakistan India: Economic opportunities and Political Challenges’ at ‘Gateway House: Indian council on global relations’ in Mumbai, today.
High Commissioner for Pakistan, Mr. Abdul Basit said Pakistan is rich in natural and human resources. Our youth is our future. And when our two countries are able to work together opportunities multiply to our mutual benefit. He highlighted that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s region-first vision is not only timely but futuristic.
Regional connectivity, interdependence and integration are the best hope to put our people on the trajectory of well being and prosperity, he said. The High Commissioner further added that economic potential between the two countries is huge. He urged that ‘Let’s take irreversible steps forward and work together for peace and prosperity’.
High Commissioner for Pakistan, Mr. Abdul Basit said that we need to move beyond stereotypes. “Our people deserve far better. Above all they deserve to live in peace enabling them to realise maximum”, he said. A large number of distinguished guests from various walks of life attended the event. Manjeet Kripalani, Executive Director, Gateway House welcomed the High Commissioner.
