Islamabad: Pakistan has reaffirmed its firm commitment to protecting the endangered snow leopard and the fragile mountain ecosystems that support it. This was emphasized by Spokesperson Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Muhammad Saleem Shaikh in connection with International Snow Leopard Day.

According to Radio Pakistan, the spokesperson highlighted the government’s determination to safeguard the snow leopard’s habitat through collaboration with provincial authorities, conservation partners, and mountain communities. He underscored the importance of these efforts in ensuring the survival of this rare species.

Pakistan hosts approximately 167 snow leopards, predominantly found in the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. International Snow Leopard Day serves to raise awareness about the threats facing these majestic animals and to mobilize collective action for their protection.
