New York: A Pakistani envoy to the United Nations stated that Pakistan does not seek escalation, a position clearly communicated by the nation's political leadership at all levels. According to Nam News Network, during a press conference at the UN headquarters in New York, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan's permanent representative to the United Nations, emphasized that Pakistan has informed the UN Secretary-General, the General Assembly president, and the Security Council about the latest developments. The country has also shared its position and concerns with various international partners. While reiterating Pakistan's stance against escalation, the ambassador affirmed that the country is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The ambassador commended the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and others who have been advocating for cooperation, dialogue, and de-escalation. He highlighted that these initiatives should be continued and intensified to prevent further escalation and conflict. Tensions between India and Pakistan have heightened following a deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam, located in Indian-controlled Kashmir, on April 22.
