Pakistanis living in Britain express solidarity with Kashmiris

Slough, February 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): Pakistanis living in Britain organized a function in Slough in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day. It was participated by community leaders, political activists, business leaders, representatives of mosques and well-wishers of the Kashmir cause.

The function was presided over by Ishtiaq Ahmed, Chairman Al Noor Group and moderated by Safdar Ali, former Chairman Labour Party Slough. Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, the Chairman of Kashmir Centre Brussels, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, the Executive Director of Kashmir Centre London, Chaudhry Karamat Hussain, Chairman Pakistan Welfare Association Slough, Dr Z U Khan, Councillor commissioner, Suhail Munawar, Councillor, Haqeeq Dar, former Councillor, Haji Mohammad Arif, Raja Sheraz Khan, Raja Mohammed Ayub.

Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo in his address referred to the unforgettable contribution of the people and government of Pakistan for highlighting the Kashmir cause. He said that a strong and stable Pakistan was a guarantee for the freedom of Kashmir from Indian occupation.

He enumerated the role of Kashmir Centres in keeping the international community informed about the latest developments. He thanked Pakistan for supporting the Kashmiris’ liberation struggle on moral, diplomatic and political levels.

Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl described Pakistan as the undying dream of the Kashmiris. He described observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day as the reiteration of the commitment of the people and government of Pakistan that the Kashmiris were not alone in their just struggle. Referring to the recent tension on the Line of Control, he asked the international community to strengthen the UNMOGIP in Jammu and Kashmir.

Chaudhry Karamat Hussain assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that the Pakistani community is with them. He reaffirmed his support to the Kashmir Centre London in its efforts to highlight the Kashmir cause.

Mohammed Ayub eulogised the support of Pakistani community living in Britain in the recent UK wide campaign in seeking the support of Parliamentarians for a debate on Kashmir in the House of Commons. In his presidential address, Ishtiaq Ahmed described Kashmir as the heartthrob of every Pakistani.

The meeting concluded with fateha for the martyred Kashmiris and prayer for the stability and solidarity of Pakistan and success of Kashmir movement.
