Islamabad: Heavy rain has triggered flash flooding in parts of Pakistan, leading to the evacuation of hundreds of people. Many residents are facing the destruction of their homes and the threat of further disaster.
According to DW, Iftikhar Hussain, a villager in District Chakwal, reported significant damage to his home. "One wall has fallen down and it feels like the entire house is in danger. We think there is a chance of more destruction, so we have moved our families to other houses," he stated, highlighting the precarious situation faced by many in the region.
South Asia experiences monsoon rains every year, but this year the effects appear to be intensifying. Official data reveals that Punjab province has received 124% more monsoon rain compared to last year, exacerbating the flooding and its impacts on local communities.
