Lahore: On the occasion of International Disaster Reduction Day, Director General of the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Irfan Ali Kathia, delivered a message emphasizing the importance of readiness and governmental measures to mitigate the effects of natural disasters. According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 13 October 2024, Kathia stated that the government has implemented revolutionary steps to safeguard the lives and properties of its citizens. Kathia also underscored that protecting citizens’ lives and properties remains a primary responsibility of the state.
He praised the proactive and effective measures taken by the administration during recent floods in Punjab, which led to minimal loss of life and property. Kathia called for public cooperation in disaster management, emphasizing that no country can tackle natural calamities alone.
