Planning Minister appeals masses to adhere to COVID-19 SOPs

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has appealed the public to adhere to the COVID-19 standard operating procedures to deal with the risks of fourth wave of the Corona pandemic and to avert the chances of any other wave in country.

Talking to Radio Pakistan on Thursday, he urged the people to demonstrate serious attitude to get vaccinated as it’s the only way towards normalcy.

The Minister said we have vaccinated more than 50 million people while stock of 20 million doses is still available in the country. He said for the month of August and September, we have procured eight hundred thousand doses of vaccine.

Asad Umar said we are facing record inflow of patients in our hospitals at the moment as 5,700 patients are in critical units. He said some important decisions regarding supply of Oxygen and vaccination drive will be made in tomorrow’s meeting of the NCOC.

The Minister said whole world has appreciated Pakistani government’s response against coronavirus and recognized the positive trend of virus curtailment. He said strict measures including the restrictions for non-vaccinated people are need of the hour.

Commenting on Syed Ali Shah Gillani’s death, the Minister said his sacrifices for the freedom movement will always be remembered. He said the way Ali Shah Gillani sacrificed his whole life in fighting against the oppression of a giant country is exemplary. Asad Umar said Kashmiri people’s love for freedom can’t be suppressed through oppression.
