Planning Minister Calls for Fair NFC Share for AJK, GB, ICT

Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has urged giving due share to Azad Jammu Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and Islamabad Capital Territory from the National Finance Commission according to their population, following the same model as the four provinces. He was addressing the concluding session of the Pakistan Governance Forum 2026 in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister said that the provision of their due share from the NFC award will save five hundred billion rupees for the federal government. Ahsan Iqbal stressed that the budget of social welfare and poverty alleviation schemes must be funded by the provincial government because it is the subject of provincial autonomy under the eighteenth amendment.
