Prime Minister Imran Khan has congratulated the Muslim world as the United Nations adopted a landmark resolution introduced by Pakistan, designating March 15 as International Day to Combat Islamophobia.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said our voice against the rising tide of Islamophobia has been heard and the UN General Assembly has adopted a landmark resolution introduced by Pakistan on behalf of the OIC.
He said the United Nations has finally recognised the grave challenge confronting the world related to Islamophobia, respect for religious symbols and practices and of curtailing systematic hate speech and discrimination against Muslims.
Imran Khan said the next challenge is to ensure implementation of this landmark resolution.
Meanwhile, in his message pertaining to declaration of March 15 as International Day to Combat Islamophobia, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the resolution reflects the sentiments of more than 1.5 billion Muslims around the world.
He said it is a matter of great satisfaction and pride for Pakistan to have steered this initiative under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
