PM, Field Marshal Inaugurate Sky47 Karakorum-01 Data Centre

Rawalpindi: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir have jointly inaugurated Sky47 Karakorum-01 Data Centre.

According to Radio Pakistan, during the inaugural ceremony in Rawalpindi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the newly established Data Centre as a remarkable achievement and expressed confidence that it will play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s technological transformation and digital future. He commended the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and all those involved in the project, noting their commitment and foresight had made the initiative possible.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that the successful completion of the project demonstrates that with determination and unity of purpose, Pakistan can overcome challenges and achieve ambitious national goals. He expressed confidence that the country would not only recover from the losses of the past but also emerge as a dynamic, progressive, and forward-looking nation. He referre
d to Marka-e-Haq as one of the finest moments in Pakistan’s history and a testament to the fact that where there is determination, there is always a way forward.

The Prime Minister emphasized that initiatives such as the Data Centre represent the future of Pakistan and stressed the need for all state institutions to align with the facility to fully benefit from its capabilities. He also appreciated the contributions of ZTE, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, and all other stakeholders for their support in the successful execution of the project.

He noted that the data centre has a capacity of 8.5 megawatts and mentioned plans to replicate it in Karachi and Lahore to further strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure. Sky47 is Pakistan’s largest carrier-neutral and AI-ready digital infrastructure platform, purpose-built to global standards and designed to provide scalable, high-performance computing infrastructure capable of supporting the most demanding artificial intelligenc
e workloads within the country.

The facility features sovereign cloud architecture and enterprise-grade security at every level, ensuring that Pakistan’s critical data remains protected, compliant, and securely hosted within the country’s borders. The Data Centre will reinforce Pakistan’s digital sovereignty, enhance national resilience, and accelerate the country’s digital transformation.

The project reflects Pakistan’s commitment to developing world-class digital infrastructure to meet future technological demands.
