PM Reaffirms Support for NAB in Fight Against Corruption

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated commitment to provide all essential facilities to National Accountability Bureau to purge Pakistan of corruption. He was talking to the Chairman NAB Lt Gen (retd) Nazir Ahmad Butt, who called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday. The Prime Minister termed the elimination of corruption and malpractices as the topmost priority of the government.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister directed NAB to dispose of pending cases as soon as possible and take steps to help victims of financial fraud and ensure the early return of their funds. On this occasion, the Chairman NAB informed the Prime Minister that NAB recovered billions of rupees worth of misappropriated funds during the last two years and also recovered hundreds of acres of government land from illegal occupation worth billions of rupees.

Meanwhile, NAB completed 700 inquiries and completed 218 investigations while filing 21 new references during the 2023-2024. The Chairman NAB presented the biennial performance report of National Accountability Bureau for the year 2023-2024 to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The report includes details regarding recoveries and performance of the Bureau’s headquarters and regional offices. Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the role of National Accountability Bureau role in eradication of corruption from the country.
