PM Shehbaz Sharif Urges Proactive Measures for Petroleum Supply Chain

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Minister for Petroleum to take proactive steps to enhance the supply chain of Pakistan's petroleum imports. This directive was given during a review meeting held in Islamabad, focusing on the implementation of fuel-saving and austerity measures in response to the regional situation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity for all relevant departments to be ready to implement emergency measures as needed until the situation improves. The meeting highlighted that the current situation is under constant surveillance, and meticulous records of petroleum products are maintained to swiftly identify any irregularities. It was noted that Pakistan currently has an adequate stock of petroleum products to meet its requirements, and the Prime Minister's instructions are being actively implemented.

Further discussions during the meeting revealed that the Intelligence Bureau will be presenting a monitoring report on the implementation of all measures. Additionally, it was disclosed that cabinet members have voluntarily foregone their salaries, and positive outcomes are being observed from the reduction of fuel usage in government departments. These savings measures aim to provide relief to the public amid the prevailing circumstances.

The meeting also informed attendees that the nation has a sufficient stock of medicines to fulfill national needs. Moreover, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom has established special connectivity arrangements to facilitate e-office capabilities for work-from-home initiatives.
